A Sense of Service Continued

John

Why service?

Empathy and compassion are the highest and strongest forms of Love - and I mean the word "forms" both in the sense of "types", and also in the sense of "molds" or "structures". Service is the living manifestation of empathy and compassion - and hence of Love itself, which may be why all major religions and philosophies throughout history have always viewed service as the one central core manifestation of Love.

If we view the world as pure projection (in the Jungian sense of "I am literally everyone else, and everyone else is literally me"), then I serve myself through others no less (and perhaps even more, since we are thereby collectively involved) than I am served when they serve me directly.

Even if viewed from an emotionless scientific perspective, empathy and compassion are the very cooperative social models which are most conducive to sustaining life on this planet.

Besides, service just plain feels good.

Peace, Light, and Love,

-John
