I've been thinking about a conversation with a friend lately. I talked with Terry last summer, and we were talking about volunteering with cf groups (for years Terry volunteered his time as a facilitator for CF support groups, both before and after his transplant). When we spoke that day, he kept talking about "a sense of service" - and feeling the desire, even the need, to give back (in our case) to the cf community. That phrase has stuck with me - "A sense of service" - and I've wondered lately why we each do what we do. It would be so easy to beg off due to health management, time restrictions, lack of disposable income, etc. etc., and yet, each of us finds time and energy somewhere, somehow, to put back into the community, in a multitude of diverse ways.

So, my question to share with you all is simply, Why?
Why do you choose to give your precious time, your possibly limited energy, your unlimited talent back into the cf community?
