There's a scene in the movie Animal House, where one of the characters decides the solution to their dilemmas is to get away for a while, and announces, "Road Trip!" That's a call I've made myself some days. Refreshing the spirit by leaving the familiar is a timeless human antidote, whether it's Australian "walkabout", an ocean cruise, or just a trip to the mall. A change of place is also a change of pace and perpective. Getting out and about paradoxically is one of the easiest and sometimes hardestwon kinds of spirit medicine.

Martin, a neighbor-buddy who also works at home and I call it "house arrest" - the pattern of staying home too long or too often, surrounded by endless tasks, and not socializing enought. Getting out and about can bring new ideas and offer a chance to enjoy the fresh air.
