Root Division and environs

Root Division is in the Mission District of San Francisco. There is street parking available on 17th, Shotwell, etc., plus there is a parking lot on the corner of 17th and Shotwell, less than 1 block from Root Division – open 24 hours, with $1.50 hr rate.(may be discounted on weekends)

How to find us once you have gotten to the correct block: The easiest way to find root division, is to look for the building on the S. side of 17th street with scaffolding in front and a red, toilet-paper decorated car – that will be us! We are next to the ODC dance company on the East and 7 Teepees youth center on the West.

Plan on making an evening or afternoon out? There are plenty of places to eat nearby, 2 city blocks west is Valencia street, with many small restaurants, especially between 16th and 17th street. Here you can find burgers, taquerias, sushi, Indian food, and middle eastern food, in addition to pizza, coffee and bars.

Best directions to get to RD without a lot of hassle:

From the East Bay:
Take 80 W across the Bay Bridge
Exit Ninth St/Civic Center
Take the ramp toward 9TH ST / CIVIC CTR / FELL ST / GOLDEN GATE BR.
Turn Left onto Harrison,
Slight right onto Treat
Right onto 17th
The best parking is on shotwell (on street) or at the lot on 17th and shotwell.

From the South:
Take 101N toward San Francisco
Take the Vermont St. exit
Turn Left on Vermont St.,
Turn Left on 17th St., go approx 10-12 blocks
Best parking – turn right on Shotwell for street or lot parking.

Public Transit

Bart has a station at 16th and Mission, 2 city blocks away.
the last train leaves around 11:30 pm
