Nahara Mau
Nahara was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio in 1957. After completing her Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design at Ohio State University, she moved to San Francisco in 1980. Although she started coughing when she was twelve, she was not diagnosed with CF until age 30. Eleven years and several lung infections later, Nahara was listed for a double lung transplant. Thanks for God’s Grace, her donor, the loving support of family and friends, and modern medical technology, she survived a difficult recovery in November 2000.
She enjoys being back in her role as wife and mother, pursuing creative interests, volunteer work with her daughter’s school and participates in the CF community and organ donation awareness. One of her favorite sayings is, “Love and prayer is the glue holding me together.”
