How
How?

How do you grieve the loss of a life partner?
How do you pack away the boxes of future plans
and lost memories, and put them away in the attic
of your mind?
How do you eat?
How do you return to a home alone
and live in a nightmare that was once heaven on earth?
How do you not scream at the heavens and curse at God
for turning your life into a living hell?
How do you possibly fill the empty hole in your heart?
How do you keep on going even if you’re not sure
that you want to?
How do you sleep at night?
How do you breathe?
How do you stay awake…
and which is worse -
Day or Night?
How do you remember and never forget the memories?
The sights, sounds…
and smells of your beloved?
How do you continue to live in a world
that continues to turn and pass you by?
How do you find meaning to your shattered life
and broken dreams?
How do you honor the life of your loved one?
How do you go on?

The answer:
To honor and pay tribute to the life of a lost love.
…A place to go and forget about life
and learn an ancient Chinese art
Yin and Yang.
Soft and Strong.
Balance…
To yell and scream,
punch and kick.
And forget about life
And a place to fight
And it hurt, but it was okay
Because I was used to hurting.
And I was used to suffering.
Just like she was used to suffering.
I was used to the blood, the sweat and the tears.
It helped me eat…
...and sleep
…and breathe
…and go on.
Though it didn’t fill the hole in my heart,
It just made my heart bigger. . .
